Schott Nextrema® Glass Ceramic

Glass-ceramics are distinguished from glass and ceramics by their characteristic manufacturing process and by their properties. Not classifiable as glass or as ceramic, they represent a completely new class of materials.  Glass-ceramic, such as SCHOTT ROBAX® or SCHOTT NEXTREMA®, is recommended for applications that require extreme temperature environments.  The material proprieties of each are unique and correspond to the specific product design requirements or application.

SCHOTT ROBAX® fire-viewing panels provide fireplace manufacturers the temperature stability, transparency, heat transmission and thermal shock resistance for safety and protection from fire hazards, while providing warm heat.

SCHOTT NEXTREMA® glass-ceramic combines the benefits of technical specialty glass with the properties of high temperature materials to provide a unique solution for technical applications and new product development (see SCHOTT NEXTREMA® glass-ceramic brochure).
